Certificate II in Community Services Work - Course Code CHC20202
This is an introductory, on-line or distance training course, that provides an overview of community services work. The course offers students general skills and knowledge and a broad foundation in community services specific skills and knowledge, with a focus on aged care. The course includes 40 hours work placement.
The course is suitable for people who are:
- aged 25 years and over
- are currently in the workforce or looking for work and do not have a year 12 or equivalent or certificate level II or higher qualifications
Course Content
The Certificate II in Community Service Work consists of 11 units of competency as follows:
Core Units (5):
- CHCCS201A - Prepare for work in the community services industry
- CHCCOM1B - Communicate with people accessing the services of the organisation
- CHCORG1B - Follow the organisations policies, procedures and programs
- CHCORG2B - Work with others
- CHCOHS201A - Follow OHS procedures
Elective Units from Certificate III in Aged Care Work CHC 30102 (6):
- CHCAC15A - Provide care support that is responsive to the specific nature of dementia
- CHCINF8B - Comply with information requirements of aged care and the community care sectors
- HLTCSD6A - Respond effectively to difficult or challenging behaviour
- CHCAC3C - Orientation to aged care work
- CHCAC2C - Provide personal care
- CHCCS303A - Provide physical assistance with medication
Qualifications and Recognition
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to receive the Certificate II in Community Services Work. Discuss with us how to use this to obtain a Certificate III in Aged Care Work or Certificate III in Home and Community Care.

Course Commencement and Duration
You may commence the course as soon as your application and voucher is approved and it would be expected that you complete the course within nine (9) months.
Course Assessment
Students will be required to complete a range of written assessment tasks and two practical tasks when on placement.
