Dementia Program for Enrolled Nurses

Our Dementia Program for Enrolled Nurses is modified from the university recognised program for registered nurses.

Delivery

• 15-20 CPD hours. This is a five (5) week program with two (2) sessions per week for a total of 15 CPD hours. Another 5 CPD hours are awarded if the participant completes the assessment activity.
• This program is delivered through our virtual classroom.

Overall Objective

• There is an objective for each session but at the completion of all sessions you will be able to contribute to care planning for residents and clients who have dementia, with contemporary, evidenced based care strategies.

Topics

• Professional issues including an overview of ethical and evidence based practice in dementia nursing and professional/legal documentation
• Delirium: Causes, prevention and care
• Non-Alzheimer's Dementia including Lewy Body, vascular dementia, Creutzfeldt Jakob and Pick's disease: Symptoms and care strategies
• Alzheimer's Disease: Possible causes, symptoms and care
• Depression: Contributing factors, symptoms and care
• Dementia: Symptoms and the care for each symptom
• Identifying and understanding behaviours such as aggression, wandering, sexual responses etc
